Sometimes Hubby surprises me. I don't think he listens but then he does something straight out of my philosophy book. His last watch purchase was solar. Its so you don't have to worry about buying batteries, he said. Because I talk endlessly about energy waste and battery replacement. He made a green purchase and I was very proud.

When I told him we would get to experience some Mother Dirt products, he knew precisely what I meant. He didn't look at me and laugh....although he did say I was Mother Dirt, since I eschew the traditional 'clean' body routine.

He had heard of the company before me! Apparently it was featured on tv. He remembered that the basis of the products was live bacteria that most people wash off themselves in order to live a sterile life. That was not a good thing at all. Humans developed in nature and we need nature to thrive and be healthy.

Yes, it was glorious to see Mother Dirt embracing our biology and nature. Here was a company offering products I totally agree with, put the dirty back on our skins! We in modern society pay too much attention to being clean - this is counter productive to our health. Products like the Mist, Moisturizer, Cleanser and Shampoo help me be natural, healthy and simply beautiful.

Everyone, including Hubby, as he will attest, can make easy life changes to be more in tune with nature. A very simple routine can be done at night-time to keep your skin healthy and happy with skin friendly bacteria. You'll need a konjac sponge, Mother Dirt Cleanser, a fatty oil such as rosehip or argan, and Mother Dirt Moisturizer.

Konjac sponges are a natural way to exfoliate (remove dead cells). They are made from a root vegetable. They are reusable as long as you rinse and dry them between uses. To use the konjac sponge:

  • Soak the sponge in water until completely saturated.
  • Squeeze the excess water out.
  • Apply the cleanser to the sponge.
  • Massage your face & neck using circular motions.
  • Rinse and squeeze the sponge again.
  • Hang to dry for next use.

Pat dry your skin so that you don't damage the newly exposed skin cells.

Apply a few drops of oil to the skin, again using circular motions.

Finish up with a spray or two of Moisturizer. This seals in all the goodness of the oil's omega fats and the bacteria of the Moisturizer. Do this routine just a few times a week so that you don't over tax skin. Exfoliating, although gentle with with a konjac sponge, is not necessary every day.

Mother Dirt is a beautiful name for a beautiful concept.

Never forget: nature is beautiful. And so are You.

  1. I strongly believe in your statement "Humans developed in nature and we need nature to thrive and be healthy" to many parents now keep their kids so spotless they will never grow immune to bacteria related diseases
